Now that the breeze blows a little colder and I have switched my shorts for pants, I have really been craving music with dark undertones and lots of greens and browns. Of course, I am re-exploring Noah Kahan. I moved out of the East Coast to escape the gray cold winters but so often I find myself missing the feeling of home when the weather starts to get colder. Stick Season provides the deep greens, oranges, and browns that I so heavily associate with home. Listening to it this time of year fills me with so much nostalgia.
My current new favorite song is “tiny things” by Tiny Habits. It is so light and airy, when I listen to it I feel like I am floating around the room. It has light browns and greens, with hints of periwinkle and gray. Tiny Habits voices blend so beautifully together and their storytelling ability is something I really connect with. There are light yellows and browns that feel like they are enveloping you in warmth. Their voices are velvet and just the perfect song to wrap yourself with as the seasons are changing. If you are looking for a bit of nostalgia and an airy quality this song is a must listen. The bridge has a sense of urgency and passion that I really value in the songs I listen to, and there is a violin that perfectly encapsulates the desire for comfort, love, and simplicity.

“My friend’s toyota” by asiris has also been one of my favorite new songs I have come across. I love the guitar and how it draws out autumnal colors. It is heavy with burnt oranges and reds, with an acknowledgement to both summer and winter color pallets (His voice has dark blue and grays that I love seeing in the winter, and the higher notes on the guitar give slight nods to the yellows of summer.

“October” by HAPPY LANDINGS, “i am not who i was” by Chance Pena, and Rearview by Brenn! have also been in my heavy rotation!
Check out these songs on my newest Spotify Playlist “Weather’s Getting Colder”! It is best paired with Daylight Savings, evergreen scented candles, and new apartments.
